Our collaboration with CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development) enhances our capacity to implement science-based solutions.

Together, we develop and refine agroforestry models that address the specific challenges of arid regions.

This partnership underscores our commitment to advancing agroforestry as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Africa and beyond.

At Sand to Green, our fields are more than just projects—they are living labs where we pioneer solutions to restore degraded lands. By focusing on soil regeneration and enrichment, we create sustainable farming systems that rebuild soil organic carbon, enhance nutrient retention, and improve soil moisture levels.

Each site serves as an open lab, allowing us to test and refine innovative approaches like biostimulants and advanced land restoration techniques. Through these efforts, we transform degraded fields into resilient ecosystems capable of withstanding the pressures of climate change and supporting sustainable agriculture.

Our work demonstrates the transformative power of regenerative agriculture, showcasing how degraded lands can be recarbonized, revitalized, and returned to productivity—restoring both the environment and livelihoods for local communities.

Nzaha

Nzaha: A Hub for Regeneration

Nestled 10 km west of Guelmim in southern Morocco, the 20-hectare Nzaha estate has been a center for regenerative agriculture research since 2018. This living lab has enabled us to explore soil regeneration techniques, including composting, biochar application, and ground cover strategies, while also testing innovative water management systems and diverse plant species.

Through these efforts, we’ve restored soil health, enhanced soil organic carbon, and improved nutrient retention and soil moisture levels. What was once an arid, degraded plot has been transformed into a productive and resilient plantation, showcasing the potential of sustainable land restoration.
Tiskmoudine
The Tiskmoudine Oasis: Regenerating Plantations

In Tata, southern Morocco, the Tiskmoudine oasis is undergoing a transformation in partnership with Regenopolis, 700,000 Heures Impact, the Tiskmoudine local association, and Sand to Green. This project aims to enhance water management, biodiversity, production, and the social and cultural dynamics of the oasis.

Our work focuses on restoring the oasis while creating sustainable economic value for the local community. By rehabilitating agricultural plots and introducing modern techniques, we diversify crops and improve yields. Products such as dates, vegetables, and aromatic plants are processed and marketed to generate additional income. This regeneration project at Tiskmoudine combines traditional knowledge with modern innovations, proving that resilient, economical, and ecological agricultural systems are possible.
Rass_Oumlil
Rass Oumlil: An Innovative Plantation

Located 40 km north of Guelmim in southern Morocco, the 25-hectare Rass Oumlil site has been developed since 2023 to showcase our innovations in regenerative agriculture. The plantation features fruit trees and aromatic plants alongside extensive soil regeneration efforts and advanced water harvesting techniques.

A standout feature of Rass Oumlil is its advanced desalination machine, implemented in partnership with Mascara Osmossun. This technology enables biosaline agriculture, irrigating crops with brine from desalination, enhancing the resilience of agricultural systems against climate challenges and water scarcity.
